Returns: the hyperbolic tangent of the floating point number


Declaration

     tanh value float x


Purpose

Use tanh to calculate, in radians, the hyperbolic tangent of a floating point number. This trigonometric function works the same way as its equivalent in the C math library.

Out-of-range values return "not a number" (NaN).

Example:

  process
     output "The hyperbolic tangent of pi/3 is " 
         || "d" % (tanh (pi / 3))
         || " %n"
  ; Output: "The hyperbolic tangent of pi/3 is 0.780714435359268"
