How FLEXlm works
------

When OmniMark begins to execute, it makes an inquiry to FLEXlm to obtain a license. If a license is available, OmniMark will check one out. If a license is not available, OmniMark will wait for a license to become available unless the "-nowait" OmniMark command-line option has been used. When OmniMark is waiting for a license, it will issue a waiting message approximately once every 120 seconds (unless the "-brief" command-line option has been used).

When FLEXlm issues a license to OmniMark, it updates its database to reflect the checked-out license. Should OmniMark terminate for any reason, FLEXlm will immediately free up the license for subsequent use.

It is possible to reserve the license for a certain period. This ensures that, should you be using OmniMark from a command file or running a series of small jobs, you will not lose your license to another user. This delay is called the linger time. OmniMark has a default linger time of 0 seconds, unless the "-linger n" command-line option is specified (where "n" is the wait time in seconds). This feature was added to OmniMark in V2R6, in which the default linger time was 60 seconds. The default linger time was changed to 0 seconds in OmniMark V3R0.
