XML/SGML parser: specifying input

The source of input to the SGML or XML parser can be one of two things:

• an input source sent directly to the SGML or XML parser.
• a function call to an internal function that does not return a value. The output of the function is used as the input. Such a function call is called the input function of the do sgml-parse or do xml-parse action. It behaves just like an external-text-entity rule, providing the text of the "document entity".
