| XML/SGML parser: controlling input | |||||
An external-text-entity #document rule allows an OmniMark program to take control of where the input to the SGML or XML parser comes from, without requiring the use of a do sgml-parse or do xml-parse action. If a down-translate program contains an external-text-entity #document rule then, instead of reading files from the command line, the SGML/XML parser uses the output of the external-text-entity #document rule.
An external-text-entity #document rule also provides a framework for explicitly providing an entire SGML or XML document entity to the appropriate parser.
