acos

function

Library: Trigonometry (OMTRIG)
Import : omtrig.xmd

Returns: the arc cosine of the floating point value

Declaration
export external float function
     acos value float x

Purpose

A trigonometric function that calculates, in radians, the arc cosine (inverse cosine) of a floating point number. This function works the same way as its equivalent in the C math library.

Out-of-range values, (|x| > 1), return "not a number" (NaN).

Example:

  import "omtrig.xmd" unprefixed
  import "omfloat.xmd" unprefixed
  process
     local float x initial {0.567}
     local float acos-value
     set acos-value to acos x
     output "Arc cosine of x, where x = "
         || "d" % x
         || ", is "
         || "d" % acos-value
         || "%n"
  ; Output: "Arc cosine of x, where x = 0.567, is 0.967937080405776"
